Online Surveys
Participating in online surveys is a very convenient method for companies to gain valuable feedback on products and services as opposed to the traditional focus group. It is also much more relaxing for the participant, as well as a good way to earn some additional money from the comfort of your home.
Having been in a few focus groups myself, I know all too well how it works. One was like a large interrogation room for 1-2 hours... sitting around a crowded table, each person drilled on the product in question, all the while video cameras sat in a little room with lightly tinted windows watching everyone and their actions/reactions. I can understand the company wanting to get as much feedback as possible, but that occasion was just not a 'relaxed' experience, and likely counter-productive at times. Enter the 'online survey' and things change quite a bit thanks to the Internet.
In either method, whether it be a focus-group or online survey, one consistent remains... to be as truthful as possible. Otherwise, you are just wasting everyone's time and effort.
